DITHERVOID // SPECIMENSWORKBENCH V6 · A NATURAL HISTORY

THE SPECIMEN. No landscape, no sun, no third dimension. A specimen lies on the page the way a beetle lies in a Victorian folio — bilateral, segmented, seen from above — except that it is alive: the legs walk, the antennae feel, the abdomen breathes, and all of it on a whole-number count so the loop closes. Ten orders, each part shaded as a small dome under a lamp from the upper left, contoured where part meets part, outlined, and printed in three to six inks on PAPER or on VELVET. Every specimen gets a Latin name it has never had before. Only the palettes and the GIF writer survive from the old engines.
